Construction Completion Date: 1998

Digester design: Mesophilic Plug Flow with plastic liner top 120’ x 30’ 14’

Designer: RCM, Inc

Complete System Cost: $240,000 (40,000 engineering provided by AgSTAR)

Annual O&M: Estimated $15,000/yr

Gas Production: 40,000 CF/day (4000 tons/year CO2 equiv)

Energy Conversion Method: Caterpillar 3306, 130 kW generator

Electrical Energy Produced: 500,000 kWh/yr 60 kW

Thermal Energy Produced:

2500 MMBtu/yr (estimated)

Engine “up-time”: >95%

 

Other products: Sells recovered fiber

Comments:  
Installed as part of the dairy’s plan to reduce environmental impact of the community; installing an irrigation line to reduce truck traffic.  Recipient of the Governor’s Environmental Award 1999 (Press release available).

Gas Production: 40,000 CF/day (4000 tons/year CO2 equiv).

Energy Conversion Method:

Caterpillar 3406, 130 kW generator

Electrical Energy Produced:

500,000 kWh/yr (annualized) 65-70 kW

Thermal Energy Produced:

2500 MMBtu/yr (estimated)

Engine “up-time”: >95%

Other products: None

Comments:

Recovered hot water used for floor heating in the parlor area, and will be used to heat alleyways in the new barn (under construction).

Very happy with facility.
