Building a Digester |
Picture Tour: Construction ProgressionA digestion system is not overly complex, as will be seen with the following photos. A proper design never loses sight of the realities of the farm. Those realities include site layout AND the agricultural economy. The objective of the farm is to sell animal protein either as meat or milk. Manure management is the needed activity at the end of the production process. Few resources are available to perform manure management, in spite of the requirement to do so in an environmentally acceptable fashion. A system designer must concentrate on simplicity of construction, ease of operation and reliability. The following photos are of a heated plug flow dairy manure digester. |
